A Brief History

In August 2019,

Scott began reclaiming and expanding his father’s vegetable garden in Dutchess County into a 5,000 square foot, no-till and sustainable market garden. Queens Farms was born.

In March 2020,

as we entered the COVID pandemic, 20 yards of compost was delivered and the rows and paths took shape. Planting soon followed in April.

By June 2020,

more than 1,000 heads of lettuce needed to be harvested and were hastily donated to CityHarvest. Realizing the need to move a ton of produce and quickly, we started the Queens Farms CSA (10 weeks for 15 subscribers in Astoria) in July.

2021 was our 2nd

year of the Astoria CSA. Queens Farms choose to apply for and received “Certified Naturally Grown” status.

In May 2022,

we purchase a second house on 10 acres in Dutchess County. We continued the CSA offering while also developing the new land.

Summer of 2022

marked the third and final year of the Astoria CSA. We learned so much and met so many wonderful people, but it was time to move on.

In 2023, the next

chapter started. We experimented with berry, mushroom, and CBD production on the new property. We began developing sustainable plans for future operations.
