Meet Your Farmers
Scott Pidgeon
Scott grew up on the land we now farm, in New York’s Hudson Valley. He has more than 25 years professional experience working in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and quality. His passion for farming began in his teens, while working at a local farm in Dutchess County. When he’s not tending gardens and vegetables, Scott is working out how to bring these worlds together. Scott manages the physical operation, including crop planning, planting, material acquisition, on-site logistics, and the harvest. Scott firmly believes his cats should be listened to intently but ignored whenever possible.
Brandy
Brandy, and her brother Bourbon, moved upstate in December 2022 with Scott. They were born in Astoria and they are learning how to be country cats. Brandy still retains her decerning palate, and her pickiness is rivaled only by Scott’s mother. They both dislike fish, of any kind, and will happily let you know when they disapprove of the menu.
David Garland
David realized over the years that in addition to being a cat whisperer, he also has a knack for starting and growing plants from seed and he becomes more passionate with each success. He manages the technology infrastructure and sales / distribution logistics. When not performing his day job in business resilience and disaster recovery at a large financial institution, David is likely watering seedlings, making salsa or jams, or posting pictures. He also manages seed acquisition and grows everything we produce from seed to transplant. Though he may seem a bit salty, his heart is in everything Queens Farms does.
BOURBON
Bourbon was born on the streets of Astoria with his sister, Brandy. He continues to struggle with narcolepsy and enjoys napping. Bourbon rarely gets involved with farming but is adjusting to his new rural life. When not sleeping, he can often be found on David or Scott’s lap watching Monte Don on Gardener’s World.
